OpozO was at the South of England Winter Fair in Ardingly West Sussex on 23rd and 24th November 2019 attended by over 14,000 people.
This was the first time OpozO Games and our OpozO Pockets were offered for sale in the UK in a retail environment following our successful launch at Essen Spiel in Germany in October 2019. The fantastic news is we sold the same amount of games at the Winter Fair in 2 days as we sold at a major world games fair at Essen attended by over 200,000 people in 3 days!
To get children into a festive mood and have some fun, we gave every child who rang our bell a free sweet. Can you believe it? We encouraged kids to make noise and they got rewarded for it! Over the two days we gave away 10 Bags of Sweets and Lollies and one large box of chocolates.
We hope everyone brushed their teeth including the Mums and Dads who rang the bell and grabbed a cheeky sweet too!
The idea behind the bell is simple. To ring a bell and draw attention to yourself in a strange and crowded place takes confidence. With a little encouragement even the very youngest and shyest claimed their sweet reward which was wonderful to see. It’s a great way to demonstrate that with a little encouragement and confidence we can all be winners if we dare to try something new!
We took the opportunity to play with several children who would not normally play a strategy board game and guess what, they enjoyed it! We even lived up to the challenge of showing a mother and her son, both of whom would never consider strategy board games as a play choice, how to play Battle Warlords Shields in 3 minutes whilst demonstrating how to create a game with 3 ways to win in under 5 minutes! We played a quick Shields game with the son, with mum getting involved with some inspirational move suggestions of her own – go mum! Two new Game Changers definitely Thinking Outside Boxes!
This exemplifies what we want to achieve with OpozO. Great fun and new ways to explore play for all the family. Simple rules and stimulating ‘thinky’ challenges we can all enjoy together.

A big thank you to Melina, another member of our growing OpozO Team who enchanted everyone with her lovely French accent. This was Melina’s first OpozO event. It was a fabulous experience for her as she is currently studying Events Management at University.
